I remember, at an early age, tipping over my red pedal car on my grandparent’s lawn  and using sticks from the garden to carry out imaginary repairs with these makeshift tools. And for almost half a century, that hasn’t really changed.

The pedal car was replaced by a very long line of real cars, starting with an Alfa Romeo that was so rusty, I didn’t get chance to tax it a second time. Trading my way up, my ownership portfolio included Jaguar, Mercedes, Porsche, Maserati and Ferrari, with a selection of classic cars along the way.

At the same time my professional development was moving in a similar way. Progressing through main dealer garages in workshop, parts, sales, warranty and eventually management. I had a full motor trade CV, covering every department.

I’ve been involved in motorsport since 1984  – building cars from scratch and competing myself, on track, in rallying and karting.

So, I know my way around cars, and through helping friends and family with their next car, I realised that not everyone has the time or the knowledge to assess whether a car is right for them. And that’s where the car inspection service came from.
